About ‘Oxide’ EXHIBITION:
The project funded by the Valencia City Council and carried out at the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid is part of the ‘Copper skin’ series, an autobiographical series that investigates the way in which copper, during its oxidation process, produces a unique turquoise green on its surface, resulting in a form of epidermis. For Silvia Lerín this has a very poetic connotation, a kind of Phoenix revival: instead of evoking deterioration and decay, rust becomes beauty for the eye as well as being a ‘protective’ skin for the copper, this metaphor responds to a personal moment very positive in which the artist finds herself.
The ‘OXIDE’ series is made up of a set of engravings using the traditional ‘Collagraph’ additive printing technique on 300 gr. engraving paper, which is attached to a 88 x 119 cm ‘museum conservation’ mat background.
Edition of 6 copies of each print in addition to some ‘Artist’s Proof’.
Copies are signed, numbered and dated.
Note: Given the handmade nature, and even in this case pictorial, there are subtle variations that give nuances of individuality to each of the prints made.
